Our Boy / Fiona Chant (Mum)

From our hearts ....This is the letter written 4 days after he died - the sentiments still hold true today as we approach his birthday we were blessed to have known him.

Love ya Son, from us all x

        Jason Alan Chant

Beloved Son, Brother, Friend and Father of Brandon Harry Chant

We wake before dawn at the moment and watch the sun rise on another day – and wonder how long it will take for us to move forward.

We share with you the importance of communication and ask that you always try and talk loud and clear, of what your heart is feeling and not allow, the creedping shroud and festering pain of depression, to get hold of you or your loved ones.

Our eldest son Jason died on Wednesday, taken in deep despair through depression – we have asked many questions and we will never have the answers.

We hold dear, the thought, that, this time God outstretched his hand and was prepared to let him join his choir of Angels – friends, relatives and we the family, were not enough to help and heal his tormented soul – not even the love of his son Brandon
was enough to hold him here.

Over the last few days the world has spoken his name – conversations and discussions of how and why this happened and still more questions left unanswered. This brings great support to us, that through our long sleepless nights – whispers, tears and prayers are said in his name.  Through the time zones of Canada they mention his name - in the depth of Africa his cousin has had to read a text, in disbelief – in New Zealand, Australia and America they too, all sigh and hurt.

But, hear at home, we cry the loudest at the emptiness of our home and our hearts, without him, we hurt so much but understand his pain and suffering is now over, and we for a moment, must endure, but a little of what he must have gone through.

We are touched and lifted by all who have visited and written to us and believe that in his name, good deeds, must come – talk, must come – love, must come.  All of us must learn to reach out and touch a soul, enlighten a heart and go that extra mile.

Jason’s journey of life is over and a new beginning has been placed before him, the path is clear of pain and torment and we must, let him go.

Time, they say is a great healer, it is also, in this day and age, a great destroyer - for we say “I just didn’t get round to it” or “ I didn’t have the time”. Promise yourself that, you will find time, in Jason’s name – time, to love – time, to cherish – time, to share.

Our farewell to our son must show, the way for families and friends to draw closer and unite – to learn forgiveness and hug one another – to be humble and learn to talk and listen.

We lay him to rest on Tuesday 21st of September and have a celebration of his life, with all his family and friends - and in Jason’s words – “Lets Party”
